Putting in the Hard Work

A few weeks ago a player came to me with concern with their putting. After playing multiple rounds of golf, their conclusion was always the same……”I cant Putt” “my Putting Sucks”.

This blanket statement has always interested me as good putting is found in the details and with the highest levels of precision. For example on a straight 10ft putt, if your putter face, at impact is 1deg off line……you will miss. This is a tiny margin of error. So the challenge is not to make statements that “blanket cover” your putting game, but to help highlight and focus on the one or two areas that can really make a difference in your ability to hole more putts.

In the images below, some initial changes were made to (green lines) from his original (Red lines) this was based off of the information that we gathered by using the SamPutt Lab. This is quantifiable data and is based on what is actually happening during his swing. during the session we were able to make some great changes, though more importantly build a better understanding and acceptance from the player about what needed to be improved.

To improve, you need a great relationship with a coach that is built on trust and team work and respect.
